It’s been a very busy year so far for the Village Community Council (VCC), Cumbernauld village Action for the Community (CVAC) and the Jubilee Play Park Group. So far we have launched the website, the facebook page, and the village is on twitter. You can connect to twitter and facebook from the website pages or just read them here. The Jubilee Play Park Group saw the culmination of a lot of hard work with the opening of the new play park. What a fantastic day we had for the official opening ceremony.
The new allotments too got off to a flying start. These were developed by CVAC. They will be open to the public on Saturday 31st August when there will be an official opening ceremony. This will be part of a FAMILY FUN DAY. More info soon.
The Community Council is also involved in a number of campaigns. These include getting dog owners to take responsibility for dog mess. Other campaigns include lobbying NLC to lower the speed limit on Glasgow Road and getting a higher priority for the Main Street when it comes to winter gritting.
Beautiful Scotland Judges visit the village on July 31st. Beautiful Scotland judge on the basis of things like community participation and environmental improvements as well as the way our green space looks and things like flowering tubs.
Community Council meetings are open to everyone and are on the second Thursday of every month at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall. It's very friendly and informal. It's your community, keep in touch with all that's going on: here on the website, on facebook, on twitter, on the noticeboard, at the community council meetings or write / email the community council firstname.lastname@example.org Village Community Council, c/o19-21 Baronhill, the Village, Cumbernauld, G67 2SD.
